The self-proclaimed  President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide

In a matter of utmost concern, the general public is hereby notified that an individual by the name of Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, who has been masquerading as the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, holds no affiliation with the recognized organs and structures of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. In fact, it has come to light that the so-called Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide is a spurious and non-existent entity fabricated for personal gain and ulterior motives.

Of particular distress to the Igbo community is the unfortunate reality that among all the ethnic groups in Nigeria, it is only within the Igbo populace that a few unrepentant individuals have been recruited to tarnish and undermine the only authoritative umbrella body representing the Igbo people. The revered Ohanaeze Ndigbo and its distinguished sons and daughters have fervently implored these mercenaries to cease their actions, which diminish the esteemed reputation of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. Despite these appeals, they persist in their misguided endeavuor, placing the Igbo people in a precarious position with their impulsive and reckless actions. The importance of Ohanaeze Ndigbo cannot be understated, as it represents the rich history, collective consciousness, and unity of the Igbo people, principles that should never be sullied.

Repeatedly, we have cautioned the unsuspecting public to dismiss these charlatans and media manipulators who exploit the revered status of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for their own selfish financial gains. These individuals, devoid of legitimacy, issue press releases and engage in illicit activities under the guise of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

In response to this flagrant disregard for truth, the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has taken legal action, including the inclusion of Okwu Nnabuike in a lawsuit before the Enugu State High Court (suit number E/878/2022). The honorable Justice Uchenna Mogbo has granted an injunction restraining them from further misrepresenting themselves as representatives of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

Despite this court order, which remains in effect since March 12, 2023, these cohorts audaciously persist in impersonating Ohanaeze Ndigbo in various disgraceful forms. Notably, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike has chosen to disregard multiple invitations from law enforcement agencies to address criminal complaints related to impersonation and perjury.

Henceforth, the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Engr. Dr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, CFR (Ahaejiagamba), notifies the general public to dismiss any publication, press release, or statements attributed to Mazi Okwu Nnabuike or any of his associates, as they do not reflect the official position of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. Nnabuike is nothing more than a usurper and impostor, an intruder who lacks the authority or mandate to represent or speak on behalf of Ohanaeze Ndigbo under any circumstances.

Furthermore, we appeal to the media to exercise caution in their coverage of matters concerning Ohanaeze Ndigbo and to seek clearance from Ohanaeze leadership before disseminating information to the public. We also encourage any member of the public who possesses valuable information regarding the whereabouts of Mr. Okwu Nnabuike to report it to the nearest police station or to the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Secretariat located at No. 7 Park Avenue, GRA Enugu.

Finally, it is crucial to emphasize that anyone who engages with Mr. Okwu Nnabuike regarding matters pertaining to Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide does so at their own peril.

This press statement has was issued and signed by Chiedozie Alex Ogbonnia, PhD, National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
