Traders, Youths who support Peter Obi’s bid for the presidency on Saturday shut down business activities in Nasarawa as the Labor party organized one million people in March to register their support for the Labor party and its candidate, Peter Obi in Lafia.
Speaking, the State Chairman of the Party, Alexander Emmanuel said that the one million protest was to motivate, honor the people of the state on the need to elect trusted leaders in 2023 as well as send a signal to other political parties that demanded Kazi. the party has no structure.
He expressed confidence that the party will win the 2023 presidential election and all the electoral positions in Nasarawa state, adding that the residents are tired of bad governance and were ready to vote for the party’s candidates in the upcoming elections.
“I accepted the request of groups of donors, businessmen, youth and members of other parties to start this awareness meeting because I want the people to understand the importance of electing leaders who are trusted to come to power in 2023, and that’s it. to prove the point to other political parties who always say that our supporters are only on social networks.
Speaking about the meeting which attracted participants from more than eight local government areas of the state, a businessman in Lafia, Kenneth Otublu said, businessmen in the state closed their shops and lost all profits to show their concern for Peter Obi.
According to Otublu, the sufferings and problems brought along with the increasing cases of insecurity for Nigerians have called for radical change.
“This is why we are committing today to come out and show our support, our solidarity to the Labor party and the presidential candidate Peter Obi. Nigerians must vote in 2023 for our children to go back to school, to destroy the high cost of food and other issues which will help Nigerians out of the hands of APC”.
On his part, the Secretary of the coalition of the movement to run for president for Peter Obi, Wilson Kingsley, said that the residents of the state are tired of the bad governance of the All Progressives Congress at the federal and state levels, that is why they came out in large numbers to run for the presidency. to support the former governor of Anambra state.

“These one million supporters are those in 56 groups registered in 13 councils of the state. We are not campaigning at the moment because the Independent National Electoral Commission has not given permission. What we are doing today is a demonstration to announce our support for Mr. Peter Obi.
“We are supporting him because we believe that he has the ability and potential to take Nigeria to higher levels. We are tired of all the politicians who deceive us every election year telling us that they will provide good governance but they do not fulfill their promises.
“The current government has completely failed the people. They promised to provide security and ensure stability to our economy but everyone can see Nigeria has become. Everything in the market has increased in price but the wages of workers have not increased.
“Our children have been at home for about six months now because the universities are on strike but our leaders are not bothered by the situation because their children are not studying in Nigerian schools. We are really tired of bad governance, so we are ready to bring positive change in the country in 2023 by using our permanent voter cards.”
