Aminu Tambuwal had ordered the immediate closure of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto after a Christian student, Miss Deborah was killed on Thursday.
The closure was immediately carried out after the social media explosion from Deborah’s graphic murder and the burning of her body by fellow students on campus spread.
In a video circulating on social media, some students were recorded bragging and happy that they killed her. One even admitted to bringing a match and igniting it to make Ms. Deborah burn alive.
Commissioner of Information, Mr Galadanci announced that the governor directed the investigation immediately into the murder and submission of findings to him. Also, the Sokoto Sultanate Council, the headquarters of Islam in Nigeria condemned the killing and ordered the police to arrest everyone involved for adequate action.
Newsglobal confirmed that the cause of the bloodshed was a voice message posted by Miss Deborah who complained about what she deems unnecessary in the Whatsapp class group.
