The opposition People’s Democratic Party of Nigeria extended the deadline for submitting forms for the fourth time on Wednesday.
However, uncompromising sources in the PDP said the party had decided to extend the sale of forms to include defectors from the All Progressive Congress in 36 countries.
The last day to submit the completed form now is Monday, the 25th. April 2022, while the deadline for buying forms is Friday (today). However, the party found that the delay had no impact on their main election date.
PDP initially set the completion of the form for April 1, but this is April 8 and then April 14th. April extended. The date is the 20th and 22nd. April (today) is postponed.
In a statement signed late Wednesday by the National Secretary for Public Relations, Debo Ologunagba, the party said: “After carefully examining various questions and problems in the party, The PDP has further adjusted its schedule and activity plan to extend the closing date for the purchase of expressions of interest and nomination forms for the 2023 parliamentary elections to Friday, 22. April 2022.
“According to the schedule reviewed, the last day to submit the completed form is Monday, the 25th. April 2022 extended
The date of review of the candidates for the Assembly and the National Assembly is Wednesday the 27th. April 2022. The governor is Thursday, the 28th. April 2022, while the review date for the Presidential candidate is Friday 29. April 2022. Objections to all examinations are carried out: Monday, May 2, 2022
According to the updated schedule, the three-person ad hoc Environmental Congress for Saturday the 30th. April 2022, while the national delegation congress from local government areas will now take place on Thursday, May 5, 2022. On Thursday, a party head said the main reason for the extension was to give defectors enough time to buy the form.
The chief, who wants to remain anonymous, said that many APC defectors had bought forms from their representatives, but had not yet published them.
“One of the reasons for this extension is to accommodate some people with disabilities. You will be surprised to know the identity of some APC politicians who have bought forms. We have a senator and former governor. PDP will grow stronger in the coming days, “he said.
Senate Senator Ahmed Kaita has switched to PDP and is expected to buy party forms. In the North Katsina Senate district, the president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (aD), originated. Others who are expected to join the PDP soon are: former governor of the state of Gombe and ruling legislator, Senator Danjuma Goje; former governor of Zamfara state, Abdul’Aziz Yari; and former Zamfara senator, Kabiru Marafa.
Aminu Achida and Abubakar Sulaiman, spokespersons for the Sokoto and Bauchi meeting houses, have also moved from APC to PDP.
It was learned that overflow was caused by a crisis that began with party congresses in the states that led to the formation of factions. There are more than 200 lawsuits that question the legitimacy of political groups. However, the party has made it clear that only political groups loyal to the governor are recognized.
With the party primaries starting next month, the missing APC faction is now quickly damaged. Some countries where APC is experiencing a crisis are: Kano, Akwa Ibom, Osun, Kwara, Bauchi, Sokoto, Delta, Ogun, River, Kebbi, Enugu and Oyo.
In some states, crises exist between governors and senators, while in countries where there are no governors, crises mainly exist between ministers and senators.
