Leon Panetta, has told Russian President Vladimir Putin to worry about the United States for the rejection of the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov to put aside the use of nuclear weapons during the conflict in Ukraine.
Pakkov earlier on Tuesday said that nuclear weapons can be used if Russia faces “existential threats” in the middle of the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. But Panetta is now criticizing Peskov’s comments, insisting that Putin must also be worried about the survival of his own. Speaking of these developments, Panetta told CNN: “I do not see how you can see it in other ways but dangerous when Russia is looking for possible reasons for the use of low nuclear weapons. “And frankly basing on a very wrong premise that somehow Russia is being threatened.
I think it presents real worries that Russia is at least considering that possibility. “I don’t know it will happen. I still think that Putin must worry about how the US will respond and he must worry about his own survival. “
