Lagos State Police Command has arrested two minors, claiming to be rising artists, for allegedly stabbing the pastor of The Redeemed Christain church of God, Babatunde Dada, to death. The suspects, Farouk, 15, and Jamiu, 17, were paraded on Friday by the state Police Commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu. The minors are said to have been trying to retrieve the priest from his valuables when they attacked him at a church site in the Festac area of the country.
Odumosu said the suspects, after llegedly perpetrating the crime, fled to unknown destinations, adding that they were arrested at their hideouts in Ilorin, Kwara State, and the Festac area. He said: “Duo Farouk, 15 and Jamiu, stabbed and killed one Babatunde Dada, 46, inside a church where he was worshipping. The deceased/victim, until his death, was a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Festac.
The suspects, after committing an act of murder, fled to unknown places. However, after an intensive and secret investigation, the two perpetrators were arrested in their hideout. The suspects, questioned, confessed to killing the victim with bottles and sticks. The evidence used to perpetuate the cowardly act was recovered.”
