Uche Onyedi, the youth leader of the Ogwuaniocha Community in Ogbaru Local Government District, Anambra State, said his traditional ruler’s abductors attacked the community on Friday night killing no less than four people and burning more than 50 houses. Onyedi alleged that since the community’s traditional ruler, Igwe Oliver Nnaji, was kidnapped about six weeks ago, the kidnappers have visited the community and caused chaos. He reveals that the corpses of the four people killed were taking away while an elderly man was also taken away after the hoodlums burnt his house.
The secretary, Ogwuaniocha Community Association, Chukwudioha Franklin, explained that the problem started with the discovery of oil in the community, which he suspected that the Lion Squad wanted to control the outcome. Franklin accused the state government of being only interested in oil and thus playing “politics” with people’s lives.
