The race forthe Enugu Lion building gradually began to take shape. The beach is also increasingly clear as imposters gradually give way to competitors.

Nineteen candidates may have obtained the People’s Democratic Party nomination form, PDP but the game gradually narrowed to around four to five candidates.
The zoning problem seems to have been resolved even before the PDP made an official statement about it. There seems to be a tacit but extraordinary agreement that the Enugu Eastern Zone must produce the next governor by 2023.

The zone has also produced the highest number of candidates according to the existing zoning formula which is expected to be announced soon.

Top competitors include Captain Evarest Nnaji (Odengene) Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, Barr Peter Mbah and Hon Chijioke Edeoga.

Bets believe that the next governor will surely emerge from four prominent candidates who have shown readiness and readiness to take over from Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

They all came from the preferred Enugu Eastern Senator Zone. Captain Evarest Nnaji (Odengene) and Barr. Peter Mbah came from LGA Nkanu Timur, who had targeted the position on the grounds of regional lagging in terms of development. Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, retired Federal Permanent Secretary is from Nkanu West while former Reps Hon Chijioke Edeoga member is from the LGA Fill-uzo.

Bookmakers do not forget candidates such as former Minister Barth Nnaji, former SSG G.O.C Ajah among others, but believe that eventually the governor will emerge from four prominent candidates.

Senator Ike Ekweremadu other strong candidates failed to enter the top competitor list due to zoning issues. Of all the indications the former Vice President of the Senate might have to fight from the outside which would make it very difficult given how Enugu’s politics are structured.

Ekweremadu was able to turn things around in 2015 due to the carefree nature of Governor Sullivan Chime at the time and the sudden resignation of the then PDP State Chair Engr Vita Abba. With the successful implementation and selection of environmental delegations 3 people, Ekweremadu might move against the current.

Newsglobal  did not see the Senator leaving the party. However, it would not be surprising if Ekweremadu negotiated himself back to the Senate as the last option.

Continued…….

Keep a date as we weigh the individual opportunities of the top four candidates.
