Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano has said that his wife, Ebelechukwu, will compete for the Northern Senatorial District of Anambra in the 2023 general election.
Obiano made the comments while speaking to members of the Nigerian Union Journalists, Anambra State Branch, at his country home, Aguleri, in the state’s Eastern Anambra Local Government Region, on Saturday.
He also embarked on an infrastructure tour with NUJ members around the Anambra International Conference Center, Awka City Stadium and the State’s International Passenger/Cargo airport
Several youths in the state’s Oyi Local Government Area, under the umbrella of the United Ogbunike Youth Association, urged the governor’s wife to run for Senate to represent North Anambra in the 2023 general election.
The group said that the reason for their search was for the governor’s wife to “continue the good work she did and also attract more development to the North Anambra constituency.”
Governor Willie Obiano used the tour to inform journalists that his administration had completed a total of 133 roads across the 181 communities in the state and that international flight would commence in Anambra Airport in two weeks time.
He urged the Union to always project Anambra State in a developed light.
